What’s new
HushScrolls 1.1.12 (Android) / 1.1.11 (iOS)
Changes since 1.1.9 (13 August 2026). Last updated 23 August 2026.
This update covers everything since the last labeled store cut, 1.1.9. Native versions are now Android 1.1.12 (build 14) and iOS 1.1.11 (build 7).
Notifications
- Push when a story is ready to read — as soon as the first chapter’s pictures are in, not after the whole book finishes.
- Tap that notification and the story reader opens.
- Optional “new version” notice with Play Store / App Store links.
- Account toggle: story-ready and news, on this device.
Stories & reading
- Home Reader is a fourth story mode, next to Create, Classics, and Daily.
- Home Reader uses HushScrolls sound bands (short vowels → blends → silent e), not school-branded stages.
- New Story modes fit on one phone screen, with larger tiles.
- Saved Stories is a two-column grid; Character Library is a 3-up grid.
- Header stays put while you scroll; extra space under the tab bar so content isn’t jammed.
- Print from Saved Stories: browser print on web; native apps share a phone-shaped PDF.
- Offline stories list and reader now match the rest of the app.
- A timed in-app message can appear on the dashboard (tap to read the full note).
- Help / FAQ is public and linked from Account, login, and feedback.
Creating a story
- Story Idea asks for a short paragraph (who, where, what happens).
- Parent’s Input is a discussion note (a fear, a friendship wobble, something they love right now) — not “the rest of the story.”
- Those fields cap at 500 characters.
- “Tonight’s Lesson” is hidden for now.
- Photo characters show a spinner while the photo is analysed, and a gender picker.
- A new story can cancel a stuck generate instead of sitting behind it.
- Continue shows next-chapter progress (“Preparing next chapter…”) instead of a frozen wait.
- If a later picture never arrives, you can still keep reading; text stays readable on pages with no art.
- “Your story is ready” dismisses properly and doesn’t resurrect old failed jobs.
Pictures
- Story pages fill the phone (9:16), letterboxed on desktop.
- Faces and outfits stay more consistent across chapters — fewer clones, mixed clothes, and wrong species.
- Classics and Daily copy (teasers, morals, roles, beats) rewritten; Cinderella follows the intended plot (gown already on, one shoe on the stair, pair restored).
- Colour names in the read-aloud text instead of hex codes.
- Home Reader stories are longer and easier for kids to read; simple CVC stories stay in one place with one snag.
Account, login, billing
- Fingerprint login happens immediately after you turn it on.
- On iPad, fingerprint uses the native plugin (the old web prompt was treated as a cancel).
- Login fits the phone and shows a signing-in state.
- Login points testers at Play / TestFlight instead of a raw APK.
- Share on Android sends a link; the system share sheet is only from Share via.
- Share links last 48 hours (7 days from the marketing Gmail).
- Subscriber new-story cap is 35 (about one new story a night).
- iOS: subscriptions go through App Store In-App Purchase at A$21.50/month.
- Android and web: Stripe monthly at A$15 (unchanged). Testers can still use BETA50 for 50% off the first month. Apple Pay on desktop checkout.
- Billing and story storage locked down so accounts can’t self-upgrade or see another family’s stories.
App shell
- Launch screen is the current night mark + gold spinner until the site paints (old full-screen teal owl is gone).
- Older native shells can be sent to the store for a required update.
Most story and library updates already reached older app versions through the live site. Push, iOS App Store billing, the new launch screen, restyled offline stories, print/PDF share, and more reliable iPad fingerprint need this native update.
